Terrible experience with Dallas Show Homes
Showhomes of America is a staging company.
Showhomes of America is a staging company that places Home Managers into vacant houses to aid them in selling faster for a higher dollar amount than if left vacant. By placing a Home Manager into the house we protect the houses from deterioration and vandalism as well as save the sellers significant money in utilities/lawn and pool. This service is NOT for everyone and it can be hard work for each home manger. We educate our Home Managers that a home could sell at any time and make no guarantees, unfortunately, for how long a Home Manager can remain in any particular home. Therefore they are COMPENSATED by paying 50-75% LESS than a traditional lease would cost them. We do not own these homes nor do we claim to own them. We simply match a Home Manager to a vacant house and they stage the home and occupy it while it is actively on the market for sale. It's a great service for sellers who have several mortgages they are carrying and are desperate to get their home sold quickly or simply want to move on to their new homes without the burden of worrying about a vacant house. Our Home Managers are able to save money while living in these houses but they know going into the program how volatile the market can be. We have been in business for 30 years and have some of the most amazing experiences with home owners and home managers. Unfortunately, with anonymous reviews being posted by people we do not recognize as actual events taking place under our name we cannot respond to them. However, Aaron Evans is an actual past client and he does have a legitimate complaint. He did move into a home that sold very quickly and it was a shock to both Showhomes and The Evan's. They worked extremely hard to stage the home to please the agent and seller. They were offered other homes and a full free month for a quick sale if they wanted to transfer to another home but they chose to leave the program. They did call our office regarding their deposit upon move out which had not had time for processing. In the meantime, the seller sent Showhomes an electric bill that had not been placed into the Evan's name as contractually obligated to do so the deposit had to be held until the situation about the outstanding bill was resolved. The Evans are correct that they called me, Emily Rose, multiple times without prompt responses but they failed to say they were calling me 20-30 times back to back after talking to our business manager. Our business manager handled all deposits and was in contact with them with each call they made to her. I am usually staging homes and cannot be at my desk to answer calls immediately but I did personally make contact with them upon my return. We resolved the issue with the electric bill and their deposit was returned to them as it was scheduled to be.
With regard to the disgruntled anonymous posting regarding a foreclosure. There are times that we have placed a home manager into a home and months later find out it is going into foreclosure. We have no control over a foreclosure. A seller would not place us in their home unless they plan on selling it so a foreclosure would be the last thing they would wish for themselves. The procedure for a foreclosure would be the same as a sale for the Home Manager as their move out time would not change. Whether the home sells or forecloses it would be no different than as they would still have their required 2 week notice to vacate whether it's a sale, foreclosure, etc. I've never encountered a seller who wants to lose their home to foreclosure. It is simply an unfortunate and sad ending for us all when this happens.
With regard to the postings that we, and services like ours, are cons. That is simply not true. As grown adults we make life choices and if you choose to move into a home on the market for sale and are compensated greatly for doing so it's illogical to lay claim that others are cons because you weren't able to stay in the home as long as you had hoped for. We hope that all of our Home Managers can have long comfortable stays but by the very nature of our business it's not always possible. The truth is that a well furnished home is going to sell faster than a vacant one. We spend our vacations and days off searching for the right homes for our Home Managers to transfer to when they've helped to sell a house. The homes vary from historical, older to brand new and we can't control exactly where each Home Manager may need to transfer to so being flexible is key in this industry. We are proud to say that we have the BEST HOME MANAGERS here in Dallas. We regret that some of our folks didn't have a good experience. The truth is that not all personalities work well with one another. Our rule is that Home Managers only correspond with Showhomes RATHER than the seller or agent and the same applies to the seller and agent. If a problem arises we expect sellers and Home Managers to correspond ONLY with Showhomes as this is not a landlord/tenant situation. When a seller or Home Manager begin speaking directly to each other they have personality conflicts or make promises to each other that are not kept and then at the end when the home sells there are hard feelings about things Showhomes has not been made aware of.
Our service works smoothly when all parties follow the guidelines of the contractual agreements they sign with us. Respectfully, Emily C. Rose

Showhomes of Dallas SCAM ALERT!
I was relocated to Dallas for work and decided Showhomes of Dallas may work beings they say you can live in there places for 30 day periods until you find your own place. We paid rent every month on time for a house that did not have a working microwave, dishwasher, stove and sprinkler system.
The worst of all the house we were in was foreclosed on. A Bank of America Rep showed up at our door one day to notify us we had to leave. I contacted the Show Homes employees several times about the home and they told us to ignore the bank and keep sending rent to Showhomes. Mary Peterson and Amy Shurts both harassed me when I told them I wanted to leave the home.I wear left high and dry and had to find a new place for me and my family on short notice for the 2nd time in 4 months.
Show is now saying that I still own owe them rent when they collected money on a house the bank had possession of and not them. When I called the President Emily Rose about my deposit she said she would get it cleared up but stopped returning my calls and sent me to collections for rent the month of Nov. I moved out of the house in Oct. I gave the notice I was according to the contract but these thieves wanted more more more.
Mary, Amy, Emily and Karas are all a bunch of lying cheating, scam artist. They have a real estate license and only claim to use it to list homes on the MLS.
No Ethics within this company! SCAM SCAM SCAM!

I worked closely with Showhomes for years, even at one point being an inspector for the home managers that were in the program. We used specific photos to gain listings as well as assuring realtors and homeowners that the photos shown were who would be in their home when in fact that couldn't have been further from the truth. Linda Thompson, Mary Peterson were both queens of this tactic.
